BEAUTY & POISE: Most of us would enjoy a walk through the Louvre or any museum of art in which various pieces showcase the human form. And we all enjoy photographs of beautiful creatures, people and things of this world. So while some may scoff at the “flesh-focused” nature of beauty pageants, aren’t they missing the point? Watching a beauty pageant comes as natural as appreciating the flowers in The Flower Fields of Carlsbad. Congratulations to Alexandria for her Awesome achievement, and for winning a contest that VERY few will ever get a chance to even enter.

SMALL TOWN BEAUTY: If you missed it, Alexandria Mills of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, was crowned Miss World 2010 at the pageant held in Sanya, China. She is the third woman from the USA to win Miss World since Gina Tolleson in 1990. REIGNING BEAUTY: During her reign of Miss World, Mills traveled to Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Trinidad & Tobago, the United Kingdom and the United States.

QUICK RESUME’: Miss Mills was home schooled, graduating shortly before the competition, and at the time expressed interest in teaching and landscape photography. Prior to being appointed by Elite Models to represent the USA at the 2010 Miss World pageant, the 18-year-old vegetarian was first runner-up during the Miss World Beach Beauty fast track event and second-runner-up in the Miss World Top Model competition.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER: Alexandria married her beau, Franklin Hibbs, in 2012. The couple resides in Bardstown, Kentucky, about a half hour from her hometown.
